The parade marks the 35th anniversary of the Polisario Front and the outbreak of the armed struggle for Western Sahara’s independence. The Polisario Front launched on May 20th, 1973, ten days after its creation, the armed struggle against Spanish occupation of Western Sahara, then against the Moroccan army which invaded the territory in October 1975, following Spain’s withdrawal.
